10 Important Things To Do Before Every Travel

by - November 06, 2020

After the pandemic and travel restrictions all over the world, where do you want to go? This question gives you excitement if you are a travel junkie like me. However, dont pack your to-do list just yet. There are number of things you can do before your trip to make the most out of your adventure. Do you need a visa? Did you get travel insurance? Do yoy know what you’re allowed to bring in your carry-on?

Travel Insurance is one of those things you dont realize you need.. until you do. Travel insurance will save your booty when it comes to any unpredictable medical expenses! On top of health coverage, things like lost passports, stolen laptops, canceled flights & other scary situation can totally destroy your trip. Always get insurance, its possible you might end up not using it, but it is so much better to have it “just in case”.

Contact consulates, work with visa agencies and do whatever you need to do to make sure you are ready well in advance. Never leave visas to the last minute! Paperworks delays can pop up at anytime & I doubt anyone would want to be sent home after the flight there.

It is essential to research your destination & be 100% sure you’ve got everything you need. Know before you go and save yourself from stress!

Whether you are planning a short trip or have already embarked on an epic journey around the world, being able to plan ahead & keep your accomodation cost to a minimum will certainly help you to stretch your travel budget.

There are many ways to approach this challenge. The most important thing is to determine how much you actually want to spend while also considering the standard of accomodation you would like.

TIP: It is worth making sure that you check on several comparison sites, as not each website will be offering the same room for the same price. My favorite platform is Airbnb!

I would suggest printing out one or two copies for yourself. Make copies of your travel documents, including your passport, itinerary, travel insurance policy, emergency phone numbers & any tour confirmations.

Its always good to have a BACKUP of everything! Just in case you lose a copy, or your phone or laptop gets stolen.

Tell your bank when & where you’re going or set a travel notice online. If you don’t, they might deactivate your card while you’re overseas! While you can make international calls, its no fun to deal with.

Also, dont exchange your money at the airport. You can change your money at any bank ahead of time.
Figure out what things & places are most important to you & your musts!

Familiarize yourself with the layout of the city & the public transportation. Read up on the destination. Top places to go, day trips, local dishes, historic attractions, everyday phrases, and even the exchange rate.

I find its better to go in with plan so you dont spend all day in the hotel figuring out what to do. Plans may change along the way, but at least you have a general idea!

It’s easy to procrastinate when it comes to packing... I know. To save yourself from some stress, start prepping your carry-on early!

Read up on airport & airline regulations while you’re packing for your trip. So many items are now prohibited.

Having great luggage is more important than you think!

When you are living out of suitcase, its essential to have the perfect bag. I always prefer using tote bag where my camera fits and my other ootd. Also, it is easier to get something whenever you needed it.

Make sure to drink water & eat veggies whenever possible.

Pack any medications you need. Make time to exercise too. May it just a walk or jog. This will keep you feeling energized while traveling. And no one wants to get sick days before their travel date. It may ruin your dream vacation.

I suggest planning your first day. I know you want to be spontaneous but the first day can be a real pain! Arriving in an unfamiliar place with heavy luggage, you’re jet lagged, and trying to reorient yourself.

Ask your hotel to pick you up at the airport so you can check in & dump your bags right away. Once you get settled, you can hit the streets & explore!

Happy adventuring!
